Kiwanis Club Division 5B gives 280 schoolchildren a wholesome treat on weekend
The Kiwanis Club Division 5B gave 280 kids of Camalig North Central School something to remember in its One Day Child Day’s Out special treats on Saturday, October 22 at the school’s vicinity.
Dubbed Bata Ikaw ang Bida, the event was laden with exciting activities wherein all grade levels had their own activity to enjoy sponsored by each of the Kiwanis Clubs under Division 5B.
About 40 kindergarten kids were taught to render action song as facilitated by Kiwanis club of Cagsawa while Grade 1 children heard beautiful stories from the New Dynamic Builders with one of its members donning the costume of Disney character Rapunzel to the delight of the many kids who never missed the chance to have a photograph with her.
The Kiwanis Club of Legazpi facilitated the exciting Palarong Pinoy for Grade 2 pupils where the kids beat each other in sack race, coconut race, patintero and tumbang preso after which they were given a pack of school supplies.
The Kiwanis Oragons sponsored a poster and slogan making contests among the Grade 3 pupils where they were made to make drawings on a given theme about education.
The Kiwanis Daragang Magayon enjoyed doing the Brigada Eskwela while facilitating the Fun Games and Palarong Pinoy for Grade 4 pupils.
Selected Grade 5 pupils showcased their special talents in the essay writing and spelling bee contests facilitated by Kiwanis Club of Bitoon kan Albay while the Kiwanis Club of Mayon Albay conducted an acting workshop for Grade 6 pupils including performances in TikTok and Vlogging.
After the activities, all kids were given packed lunch while laughing out hard at the comedy and antics of two clowns who also performed some mesmerizing magical acts.
The activity culminated with a donation of several books and reading materials, which, Mam Marsha G. Sheeky, the school head, was so thankful for the good things the donation would bring to the school’s learners. She was also thankful for the generous Kiwanians who went out of their comfort zones to bring happiness to the schoolchildren.
For her part, Kiwanis Division 5B Lieutenant Governor Lilibeth M. Dimaculangan said that same outreach activities will also be conducted in other schools in the future even as she expressed appreciation for the generosity of all Kiwanis Club members.

DZGB is supported by the joint partnership of the city and provincial government’s Agriculture Offices, the City Environment and Natural Resources Office, and other partner agencies and businesses, namely the Departments of Tourism and Health Region V, Laudato Si Farm, Energy Development Corp., Juboken Enterprises and Puree Hosanna Travel and Tours, each exhibiting their products and services open for Albayanos and tourists alike from October 19 to October 22, 2022 every one o’clock in the afternoon.
Ms. Brenda Bayona-Locsin, PBN Broadcasting Network’s President, and one of the guest speakers, commended DZGB’s initiative to call fellow Albayanos into action in caring for our environment—our common home.

Supporters of Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal and Legazpi City Mayor Geraldine Rosal flocked to the streets of Old Albay in a unified ‘walk for a cause,’ followed by a prayer rally to show support to the elected Governor and Mayor, today at the Peñaranda Park.
Bishop Joel Baylon of the Diocese of Legazpi also graced the event, leading the prayer rally as the loud voices of Albayanos were heard asking for protection and guidance for Gov. Rosal and Mayor Gie as they go through their disqualification cases.
A parade of banners and tarpaulins with messages of support were also seen carried by thousands of supporters from various barangays and municipalities.

(Legazpi City, October 11, 2022) Albay Governor Noel E. Rosal amended the Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council (PADAC) to allocate funds for Persons Who Use Drugs (PWUDs) to meet their rehabilitation needs.
According to the governor, granting funds for rehabilitation can be a great avenue to assist the province’s component municipalities in resolving issues with PWUDs regulation.
Additionally, Kristin Renee Miranda, PADAC Focal Person, talked about the existing six ‘Balay Silangan’ in the province of Albay, rehabilitation facilities that provides temporary shelter for surrendered drug offenders with an aim of giving them a fresh start in life.
Moreover, Governor Rosal also reminded the aforementioned council to maximize the allocated budget that was discussed according to its preliminary plans in handling drug-related concerns in the province, as the PADAC presented its programs and pending activities during the Joint Special Full Council Meeting happened yesterday at the Blue Room, Albay Capitol.
The Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) believed that by institutionalizing PADAC, the utilization and execution of plans will ensure an effective enactment of anti-drug abuse programs and will strengthen its campaign.

(Legazpi City, October 7, 2022) In celebration of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) through the Gender and Development (GAD) office conducted a Mental Health Seminar-Workshop for GAD Focal Persons from each PGA department, with a theme “Dealing with the Crisis of the Mind”.
Genevieve Lomerio Ondiz, a registered Psychometrician, shared her expertise during the seminar-workshop which highlighted how to properly address different mental health issues, especially in the workplace.
She emphasized that it is a must for every local government unit to undergo stress and psychological debriefing as a psychological first aid for the employees’ productivity.
“Depression is what people usually overlook. We are at fault because of the stigma and social construct”, she added.
Moreover, World Mental Health Day was observed last October 10, 2022, a campaign that aims to promote awareness of mental health issues and well-being.

(Legazpi City, October 7, 2022) – Bicol Region continues to institutionalize Modernized Public Utility Vehicles (MPUVs) under several transport cooperatives which first launched several units in Tabaco City (July 2020), Gubat, Sorsogon (August 2020), Aroroy, Masbate (March 2021), and Sorsogon City (April 2022).
The Barcelona Gubat Transport Cooperative, Prieto Diaz Gubat Operators Drivers and Conductors Transport Service Cooperative, and Ligao Utility Vehicle Express Transport Service Cooperative will be launching their MPUVs in October 2022.
During the learning sessions in the 2022 Bicol Region Cooperative Congress, yesterday, October 6, 2022, at Albay Astrodome, Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), Planning Officer II of PUVMP, Mr. Arthur Cledera further discussed the aims and principles of the Public Utility Vehicle Modernization Program (PUVMP).
Wherein, it promotes an environmentally friendly and high-quality public transportation system which prioritizes the transport of people and goods.
PUVMP pushes for a reconstructed and well-managed transport sector, which will eventually provide a stable, sufficient, and dignified livelihood for drivers and operators.
Albay Governor, Hon. Noel E. Rosal also encouraged the cooperatives to maximize their resources for the sustainability of the localities, during his inspirational message to the delegates.
