Aiming to effectively promote positive response to emergency situations brought about by disasters that occur in the province, the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) under the vibrant leadership of Gov. Al Francis C. Bichara had advanced the establishment of the new Albay Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council Operation Center Building in Salvacion Daraga, Albay. The purpose of the said new building is to create a well-equipped and disaster-prepared community and to enhance the province response capacity and disaster management. Thus, alleviate and control the impact of disaster in the community to have a resilient and progressive province.
The PDRRMC is composed of members that are trained in disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation and rescue operations. They are also in-charge of supervising disaster response trainings, capability building of respondents and staff and managing actual rescue operations. They are also the one to implement the required actions and measures pertaining to all aspects of disaster risk reduction and management, including good governance, risk assessment and early warning, knowledge building and awareness raising, reducing underlying risk factors and preparedness for effective response and early recovery. Hence, purchasing rescue equipment and food supplies for relief operations for those affected by calamities are also part of their tasks.
