DA Secretary William Dar with Director Baldwin Jallorina of the Philippine Center for Postharvest Development and Mechanization (PhilMech) and the DA-RFO 5 Regional Director Rodel P. Tornilla had awarded 100 million worth of farming machinery in the province of Albay as an assistance to Albayano farmers under the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) Mechanization Component.

Gov. Al Francis Bichara and Provincial Agriculturist Cheryll Rebeta together with the staff from the Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO) had received the new machineries and had already performed hands-on inspection last Monday, March 22, 2021.

Through RCEF, DA provides farming assistance by distributing supplies of fertilizers, assorted seeds, farm tools and machineries that will enable local Albayano farmers to start with mechanized land preparation, harvesting, threshing and plant establishment.

29 farmer cooperatives and associations all over the province have received four-wheel drive tractors, combine harvesters, hand tractors and trailers that will be used to significantly increase the yield of the local farmers and reduce their postharvest losses.
