The Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) under the dynamic and innovative leadership of Gov. Al Francis C. Bichara through the Provincial Youth Development Office (PYDO) headed by Mr. Rhondon C. Ricafort the Vice-Chairperson of APC and the Albay Provincial LGBTQ Focal Person convened with the Albay Pride Council on the 1ST Albay Pride Council Meeting yesterday, April 11, 2022 one o’clock in the afternoon held at the Governor’s Conference Room (Blue).

The agenda of the said meeting is in line with the SOGIE Salient Points, Agency/ Department Commitments, 1st LGBTQ Equality Day Activities/Budget and Other Matters. This meeting aims to discuss about the Duties and Functions of the Albay Pride Council specifically the offices and departments responsibilities mentioned in the ordinance. Additionally, to provide the LGBT the chance to show their role not only in their office but outside their comfort zone, an ordinance that promote a non-stereotyping community on which everyone will be treat right and just.

SOGIE Ordinance as the Provincial Ordinance No. 0065-2021 also known as PROHIBITING DISCRIMINATION IN THE PROVINCE OF ALBAY ON THE BASIS OF SEXUAL ORIENTATION, GENDER IDENTITY, AND EXPRESSION, AND PROVIDING PENALTIES THEREFOR the first LGBTQ+ ordinance passed in the Bicol Region that was signed into law on December 22, 2021, by Gov. Bichara. And in order to give life to the existing rules of the ordinance members were tasked to disseminate the information about the ordinance, this is for them to fully understand their duties and function on how to properly handle LGBTQ issues and concerns and in order for them to be knowledgeable enough about LGBTQ rights to promote human-rights, gender sensitivity and awareness.

Agency from DepEd, Provincial Police Officer, PGA Departments such as PHRMO, PHO, PIO, SK Provincial President Representatives were present during the meeting. The highlight of the meeting was about the LGBT Equality Day celebration as it was 1st in the province of Albay.
