Mr. Samuel Baluso is a farming enthusiast who has been recognized in Sto. Niño, Sto. Domingo, Albay for his dedication in farming a fair parcel of land despite his disability.

ABS-CBN also featured his inspiring story which garnered more regard from the citizens of Albay.

To express the commendation of the Provincial Government of Albay (PGA) which is under the leadership of Gov. Al Francis C. Bichara, the teams from Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO) and the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) had delivered food augmentation and farming essentials to help him further in pursuing his passion in agriculture.

The Albay Provincial Agricultural Office (APAO) held a seminar-orientation for the Farmer Field School on Production of High Quality Inbred Rice on Seed Certification and Farm Mechanization —a scholarship program to be offered to married individuals and Senior Citizens through the partnership of the Provincial Government of Albay and TESDA.

The seminar was held at Bagumbayan, Oas and was led by Supervising Agriculturist Rose Rosalinda Balce Belodo.

The Albay Veterinary Office complimented Gregorio Durante, who received an outstanding alumni award during the 35th Anniversary of the International Training Center for Pig Husbandry (ITCPH) with the theme: “GREEN PIGS: Trending Innovations, Practical Solutions, Environment- responsive applications for better farming in this millennial generation”.

The award was given to outstanding alumni graduates who exerted efforts in disseminating and sharing technologies learned from ATI-ITCPH. The efforts benefited pig producers in their areas, and successful implementations of re-entry plans that made an impact to the community.

Two solar panels, 150 watts each, were stolen from the DOST-PHIVOLCS Mayon Resthouse (VMRH) station that hosts instruments for earthquake monitoring, Global Positioning System (GPS) and tiltmeter. This was discovered by Mayon Volcano Observatory personnel during their routine inspection and preventive maintenance service on 05 February 2020. With loss of power supply, no data will be transmitted from this station and consequently will affect the monitoring of Mayon Volcano.Republic Act 10344 (Risk Reduction and Preparedness Equipment Protection Act of 2012) penalizes “the unauthorized taking, stealing, keeping or tampering of government risk reduction and preparedness equipment, accessories and similar facilities”. The Department of Health Center for Health Development (DOH CHD) Bicol conducts Free Mobile Chest X-ray intensified case finding activity in the province to address the TB missing cases in our region for the year 2020 with the Department of Health National Tuberculosis Program (DOH NTP) program and Free Medical and Dental Mission.

The program is conducted province-wide to address all the missing TB cases in our region specifically in the province of Albay. The target clients of the program were the vulnerable groups such as close contacts, diabetic, senior citizen, male smokers, tricycle drivers, urban poor, 4Ps, miners, IP’s, and defaulters.  The activity is conducted simultaneously in all municipality and cities in Albay. Each cities and municipality are given 2 days on implementing the program.  Each city and municipality have 300 vulnerable participants except in Libon which has 200 participants.

The program was launched on January 6,2020 where they also conducted free medical and dental mission alongside the free x-ray program. The DOH team also gave flu/pneumonia vaccine to the elders and deworming to all the kids in all elementary schools around Albay.

The goal of the Free Mobile Chest X-ray program was to track the missing cases in our region and to put an end on TB. The program was spearheaded by the Provincial Health office of Albay under the leadership of Dr. Antonio Sy Ludovice Jr. (health)

LEGAZPI CITY, ALBAY – In order to uphold sustainble local and national tourism development, the Provincial Government of Albay through the Provincial Tourism, Culture and Arts Office and the Department of Tourism V (DOT) spearheaded the Regional Food and Travel Food Expo 2019 (ReFTex) on October 25, 2019 at Albay Astrodome.

Pegged with the theme, “Act Local, Think Global, Go beyond the Usual,” this event was attended by about 1,000 students taking Hotel and Ralestaurant Management, Tourism and Hotel Management courses, all over the Bicol region.

The convention was graced by national tourism speaker Mr. Olan Fernandez Emboscado, while the plenary session on sustainable tourism development was discussed by different speakers from food and tourism industries and agencies.

The students also showed their prowess through contests in culinary article writing, tour guiding, cake decoration, cooking contest and culinary photography, bartending, as well as ReFTex Quiz Bee.
