Over 200 Indigenous People from the municipalities of Guinobatan, Polangui, Sto. Domingo, Tabaco and Tiwi, Albay gathered at the Farmers’ Auditorium, Albay Farmers’ Bounty Village in Cabangan, Camalig, Albay for this year’s Indigenous Peoples Assembly on February 19, 2020.

The said assembly was spearheaded by the Provincial government of Albay through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO).

The assembly provided an opportunity for them to learn more about the provincial government programs that would be beneficial to their everyday living.

Governor Al Francis C. Bichara, in his message, recognized the importance of Indigenous Peoples in Albay. “Dae ko kamo papabayan. Kung may mga problema kamu duman saindo, dae po kamo mag duwa-duwa magtaram samo”, he stated. The Provincial Government of Albay distributed cooking utensils and Adlai seeds, a healthier alternative for rice, that they can use for either business or self-consumption.
